What is the "next big thing"? Many would consider it foolish if not stupid to speculate.
Thankfully though, Humanity has a definitive guide to such matters. It is known as The Bible, and it can essentially be considered "The Future for Dummies."
The Bible uncompromisingly paints a rather stark, arduous and taxing vision of the future; one in which the powers of Good and Evil wage one final battle upon Planet Earth. Just a quick spoiler alert though: in the end, the good guys win.
So why is this the "next big thing"? Well, from the perspective of one living in the modern world, I personally feel as though the End Times cannot be too far away. This is because, given the pace at which Mankind is developing and deploying ever more powerful weapons of war, if wickedness is not vanquished soon, and the Earth saved from the abyss, there will likely no longer be a world worth saving. The destructiveness will have been so complete that the extinction of our species will be the only remaining possibility.
Now, knowing the historical folly of trying to pinpoint the exact date of the end of the world, I will make no such blunder. I will only state the fact that with each year that goes by, the likelihood of Armageddon grows ever so slightly, accumulating with the years that will have come before it. And with time, that once small eventuality becomes statistically inevitable.
The good news though is that while events upon Planet Earth will get horrendously bad before they get better, they will get better one day, after which point Humanity will never be so troubled again.
